Become
a Stop Coordinator!!
Every
year for the past 16+ years, over 130+ volunteers
take on the responsibility of coordinating local
tour stops for our B-17 and B-24. In their hometowns
and beyond, they coordinate the logistics, publicity,
and communications for the upcoming visit to bring
living history to their local area. It is work,
but the rewards are countless...the many lives touched
by the few days that the bombers are on display,
the memories of those who take flights, the veterans
reunited with their plane, crew, or memories. The
work seems small when you compare it to the value
of helping accomplish the mission.
Beyond
that, a tour stop can be a great way of promoting
an aviation cause. Flying clubs, veterans groups,
airport management... they have all seen the value
in public relations that the planes bring to an
event or as their own event. The sound of the radial
engines over the town; the sight of two of Americas
proudest aircraft flying in formation over the city...
it brings the community out. Like the barnstormers
of the early days of aviation; the B-17 and B-24
brings curiousity out, and leaves a lasting impression.
